My Bags Are Packed

My husband, son and I will be leaving Beloit on Saturday morning and driving 500 miles northeast to Whispering Winds Resort on Lake Vermilion in Minnesota. In the 1940's, National Geographic Society declared Lake Vermilion one of the top ten most scenic lakes in the United States. The lake statistics include 40,000 acres of water, 365 islands and 1200 miles of shoreline. It stretches forty miles across Minnesota's Arrowhead Region. In other words, it's big!

We'll be taking my son's new, used fishing boat with us on our trip. He's looking forward to trying out his Ranger boat at full speed in the open water and doing as much fishing as he can possibly get in. He's a serious fisherman so I don't expect to see a whole lot of him once we get there. I've tried to fish a few times on other trips but there are plenty of other things I'd rather do.

We'll be sharing the cabin with my brother-in-law and his wife, also from Beloit. Our roomy cabin is right on the lake, thus our setting is perfect.

My son asked me to make potato salad and brownies to take up with us so I'll be busy tomorrow afternoon in the kitchen being a good mom.

I've packed my bags and I'm three-quarters ready to go. We'll be staying for a week and I'm thinking I may need a larger suitcase than the one in the photo.

I'll be taking my laptop since the resort has internet access. With a mega memory card in my camera, I'll be taking photos nonstop. Something tells me I'll be posting a few hundred here before the weeks over.

That's a promise if you enjoy them and a warning if you don't.

Bon voyage. Please don't fall in the lake with your laptop.
