Thanksgiving With Family In Michigan

Meet Abby, the newest member of the family.

Wednesday morning, my husband-Lon, son-Jared, niece-Brittany, brother-Bob, sister-in-law-Bonnie and I headed from Wisconsin to near Detroit where two of my brothers-Tom and Carl have homes. On the way, we stopped to visit my nephew-Ryan, his wife-Sarah and their daughter-Abby who recently moved into a new home in Rives Junction, north of Jackson, Michigan. Another nephew-Drew, niece-Beth and everyone previously mentioned joined in the fun that evening at Ryan and Sarah's beautiful home.

On Thanksgiving Day, everyone mentioned above met for dinner at my brother-Carl's home in Waterford, Michigan, northwest of Detroit. We filled two tables for the holiday meal and the entire house with laughter and the warmth that comes when family members separated by hundreds of miles are together.

The younger folks did their own thing on Friday while my husband, brothers and sister-in-law went to the Detroit Institute of Arts and the MGM Grand Detroit casino. We even made time to do a bit (half an hour) of Black Friday shopping at a Bass Pro store.

Today, we said our goodbyes and thank yous and returned home to Beloit. We're thankful for good weather and no travel problems.

I thank Carl and Tom for welcoming us into their homes and providing us with more wonderful experiences to add to our memory banks.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Auntie is glad you had a good time and are home safe. Our Thanksgiving was also celebrated with family at Dick & Dawn's. Kathy.Greg and Jenny.
We also celebrated Kathy's 60th birthday with a decorated cake from Old Fashioned. After stuffing ourselves we managed to eat cake and leave Pumpkin Pie for later. Baby is darling and changed since I saw her this summer.

Lenore: Abby is dear, indeed! Have a great week, my friend.

Auntie: I'm glad Kathy is finally catching up with me at turning 60. Misery loves company! Not really; age is just a number.

I'm glad you all had a nice holiday.

Abby is a cutie, glad you had such a great family time. My Thanksgiving was just Beautiful and myself, she had to work Friday so we just stayed home and enjoyed the quiet. Christmas is going to be another story so we enjoyed it while we could.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday. I spent the day with my parents and my brother. I wish we had a new edition to enjoy like your Abby. My youngest is 9 and my brother appears to be a lifelong bachelor *sigh*.

Such a beautiful baby and wonderfully close knit family. It sounds like your holiday was straight from a Hallmark card.

I entertained both my parents and my inlaws, as well as my daughter and her "friend". We had a lovely time, ate, laughed, ate some more and then rolled around in overstuffed turkey misery.

What a doll baby Abby is! We joined some friends from college and their extended family and other friends in another part of the state. Got to enjoy their granddaughters which was nice.

We will do the everyone travel from everywhere bit at Christmas with family.

Shaddy,
I wanted to let you know that I posted a note to Ann Linquist about us all finishing our NaNo novels. It's under her post "I Believe" if you want to read it. :-)

Annie: I thought of you often when we were in Michigan, especially when I saw Farmington Hills road signs.
