Heave, Ho, But Then LET IT GO

I'm entering 2010 with the resolution to LET IT GO as my daily mantra.

Instead of holding on to anger, resentment, fear, anxious thoughts and all other forms of negativity, I'm reminding myself to let them go. As soon as I realize that I'm carrying the tension that results from harboring unhealthy emotions that result from negative thinking, I remember to LET IT GO.

As I practice my resolution, I sense that eventually I may often stop reacting negatively in the first place and, thus, I won't have the need to LET IT GO.

Perhaps my effective use of this technique has something to do with my age and the many years I've been trying to live without unnecessary stress. The bottom line remains certain, that is, I definitely feel more in control of my emotions than ever before.

I'm looking forward to a brighter future.

It's easier said than done, the letting go of stuff. Some things can just be so annoying that it makes it harder to let it go.
I find ranting on my blog is very helpful and another thing I do if I can't let it go is to write it down and then burn it, sounds a bit mad but it can be a good way of having a good rant in private.
Anyway I hope your way works for you and you've certainly given me another way to think about letting go.
Much love

Interesting post, Shaddy. And, rather than use that fine date book to keep an obsessive record of your workouts, perhaps it could serve as a respository for those things you've let go of. Pity to use a beautiful book as a trash can, but so be it. You know how it is with writers--once we assign those negative things to paper, we've cut them down to a size we can deal with. Then, at the end of the year, you burn it in a fine ceremony and watch all those negative feelings go up in smoke.

Lia: Writing things down on paper that are bothersome and then burning it is a technique I've heard mentioned several times over the years in stress relief guidelines.

Gully: Your idea is excellent and I'm quite sure I can use my date book for recording those things I let go of AND my workouts. The problem is that I may slip and accidentally let go of my workouts!!! Oh dear, to let go of my attachment to NorthPointe would surely put me in an irreversible tizzy!

If you can follow the letting go..you will definately have a brighter year. I started a blessing journal on January 1. No matter what terrible calamity may assault my day I am going to find and write down at least one blessing found in that day.

dayner: If we practice, just think: we'll be perfect!

Dee: A friend of mine gave me a journal like yours. It's another great way to channel our energies in a positive direction. It seems we find what we're looking for, that is, if we focus on the negative, that's what we will find and dwell on. If we focus on the positive, soon we find that we're surrounded by good things. Enjoy listing your blessings.

A MUCH needed reminder for me as well. And also a strange coincidence. But, I'll keep from babbling on about that and explain tomorrow.

darksculptures: I'm looking forward to hearing of the strange coincidence.

Creative minds think alike!!! Mine is also the same with letting go intertwined with letting God. Although, this past week I have chosen to let my anger get the better of me causing me insomnia, anxiety and not wanting to talk with the family members who have inadvertantly caused it=matter of fact, they probably don't even realize it!! Thank you for this post. I think God was whispering through you to remind me that enough is enough and it is WAY overdo to let it go!!! So, I choose to do so...
