Can You Tell?

**********Lon and I both like candles. Can you tell?
*
The flame, the scent and the peace that a lit candle provides are treats we can't resist, especially during the cold winter months. Consequently, every room in our home has frequently enjoyed candles.

I do love candles myself, but am a little wary of them for fear of fire.
I love vanilla scented candles and did you know that, that particular scent is a mood setter for gentlemen (to put it delicately). They love it apparently.

Much love

Lia: One does need to be careful when burning candles; that's for sure. As far as scents go, rarely do candles emit a detectable scent. Many promise to envelop me in delicious aromas yet I nearly burn the tip of my nose off as I try to get close enough to detect any smell at all. Oh well! That makes me REALLY appreciate those that keep their promise.

You have some of the most gorgeous and whimsical candle arrangements I've ever seen. I agree, the small warm flames are so calm and inviting.

I'm with Lia on the fire hazard. I do worry every time I light a candle, but mainly because I have two very large dogs that run about the house and one has a tail that could knock down just about anything that is not nailed down, furniture included. Therefore, I find myself lighting the few arrangements I have less often than I desire.

Now if you will excuse me, I’m off to buy some vanilla scented perfume. :)

darksculptures: Two big dogs and burning candles surely don't mix. Regarding vanilla scents, Lia is a endless fount of knowledge (and entertainment), isn't she!!!

I, too, love candles, though the strongly scented ones bother me. I quit burning candles when I got my first husky. I could just see that fluffy tail going up like a sparkler on the Fourth of July.

Gully: For many of us, our first writing lesson involved describing a burning candle. Mercy! That was way back in September of 2006.

I love candles, especially the scented kind but I am also very afraid of fire. I found these great flameless scents. They don't quite provide the same atmosphere but they smell great. It's called Scentsy, check it out. http://www.scentsy.net/

My favorite place for candle adoring is when I soak in the tub. I turn off all the lights, add some healthy bubbles, and light up the candles. So pleasant!! Of course, our tub has been out of service so I can only shower now!! But the memory lingers on...

What great candles and candleholders! You have such a nice rustic theme with your decor. I'll bet your house smells lovely, too.

Definitely with kids and pets you gotta be careful with the flames, though.

Vanilla, huh?

I love candles, too. Particularly cinnamon or apple spice--or pumpkin spice! Yep--that one's my favorite. I'm going to get a camera soon. It's just a matter of figuring out which one I want. Can't wait to load my posts with my very on shots!

Oooo, these are so nice! I like that birch tree one. I love candles too, like you, especially in the winter. We love 'em. Think I'll head on over to Yankee Candle's website now...they should pay you commission on this sale :) Thanks Shaddy!

dayner: Scentsy, hmmm...sounds like a great alternative. Thank you.

Annie: Hang on to those pleasant memories!

Natasha: Rustic is right! Our interior is very cabin-like and we both like it alot!

Lenore: I agree. It looks exactly like a chunk of a birch branch.

Linda: I don't know what I'd do without photos of my own to use in my blog posts. You'll enjoy it too. Good luck with finding a camera that suits your needs. There are so many out there!

Sarie: I'm silly regarding candles. When I find one I love, I hesitate to burn it because I don't want to use it all up!! Now Lon will light them whenever he wants without any hesitation. I'm conservative while he figures life is too short to be such. I need to think like him, at least within reason of course.
Have fun on the Yankee Candle website; their candles are among the best we've come across.

Shaddy,

Of course I remember the candle assignment. :o Do you remember Preacher's Lincoln and Aiko's Shakespeare?

Gully: No, I don't recall either of those. Enlighten me, please.
