Creating Something Out of Nothing

I clicked on the New Post link on my blog and now I'm staring at an empty white expanse. I imagine voices shouting, "Come on, Shaddy. Don't just sit there; write something and make it interesting while you're at it."

Where do I go from here? The possibilities are endless which in itself scares me out of my wits. How do I choose a topic to address on my blog today?

Often, I get an idea without much effort, but then again, there are times when my mind is as blank as the empty page before me. I've learned to fear not. Even when all I have to write about is the fact that I have nothing to write about, the words come stumbling out, I gather them up and use my keyboard to magically place them in the New Post space that was initially stark and void.

The result of my efforts is always at least a few sentences. They may not enlighten, entertain or amaze any of my readers, but they are written with sincerity. The least reward I am assured of when I add a post to my blog is that I've satisfied a longing to leave another trace of myself here. *
Forgive me if I've wasted your time. If that's the case, I ask that you be patient with me. I promise to come alive again real soon.

Y'all come back now, ya hear?

You have mysteriously captured some of Gully's ESP power. Because all day I've been thinking much the same thing. My mind is distracted perhaps by news from the doctor, or maybe I'm just tired. But I've stared at that blank screen thrice today and have yet to produce anything.

You're definitely not alone! I'm always thinking in the back of my mind what to Blog about next, and it always seems to work itself out :)

Even your post about not sure what to post is a post! Follow me? Ha

darksculptures: May I suggest that you let your lack of a writing topic be your first sentence. You may be surprised to find that getting those words down is just what you needed to draw more in their wake.

Vanessa: I follow you with ease. Writing from exactly where we are always seems to work rather well. We're all more alike than we often realize and it's nice to find out that others struggle with the same things we do.

Ahhh! Been in the same place...blank sheet, blank mind, blank stare...but your post did cause me to laugh out loud!!! And I do plan on coming on back here to see if the blankness disease has cleared up! Have a great week! Oh, hopefully you can head on over to my place. I went to church tonight and the homily prompted me to write a post.

I admire your discipline honey. It's inspiring! I have such a hard time keeping up with blog writing. Probably because I'm not exactly true to myself like you are. Keep going! Even your posts about blank pages make me think and smile :)
Love,
