Night Time Nonsense

I woke up this morning in the middle of strange dreams with my arms wrapped tightly around my torso, obviously quite upset. I felt like a wreck.

The workings of my mind during this morning's troubled sleep included the following unrelated scenarios:

In the first scene, I was pregnant! (That in itself was nightmarish but there was more). A previous coworker of mine who has a 3-month old baby was lending me some of her baby items since her son had miraculously advanced to 9 years old. We were at her home and there were children playing in every nook and cranny of the house.

The second scenario is totally unrelated to the first but rose to my consciousness after the initial scene. In this scene, I was working at the dental office. A gentleman entered the office and approached my desk. He said he wanted to see the dentist and handed me a bottle of prescription medicine he was taking and after reading the label I realized it was Bernard, my father's cousin. I had trouble understanding him when he spoke to me, but it was obvious he wanted and needed some dental work. My father's father suddenly appeared beside Bernard. Both Bernard and my grandfather were no more than 3 feet tall.

That's all I can recall from this morning's nightmare/dream. I must admit that I never have dreams that make much sense.

What type of dreams or nightmares do you wake up to?

OMG! Pregnant?!? LOL!! Wow. I'm so glad you posted these Shaddy. I don't feel so alone now, cuz I have some doozies too. In addition to my nightly tornado dreams, for the past few months I've been dreaming about a certain weather guy from Channel 3 (Cannalte). In the dream he's my best friend (that's it, no funny stuff) and always dressed in a suit. LOL! See what I mean? Sooooo glad I'm not the only one having odd dreams.

So weird that you asked this today because I had a bad nightmare last night, and I woke up stifling a sob. I don't remember it all anymore, but it had to do with Lewis, my dog that died a few months ago. I've been having dreams about him lately (some good and some sad), but last night was really, really sad. And I've been thinking about him and crying a bit lately when I'm awake, too.

Dream interpreters? Let me know what this means!

shaddy, that is one surreal dream!!
reminded me of a David Lynch movie...
I once had a dream about a friend; found her in a cold mortuary~ she was pale, freezing & shivering cold(scary!!!).
When I called her the next day, I found out she was having a very bad boyfriend problem! Dream is definitely a fascinating subject huh?

In my voluminous repertoire, nothing can possibly top the "dream" where the dinner special in my restaurant was baby manta rays, fried on the flat grill and served on a bed of shredded cabbage.

Awake or asleep, that's a fascinating mind you have! I hope the pregnancy is a prediction of something wonderful coming into your life.
I've gone through spells when I had recurring dreams of being on a huge, steep, runaway escalator. I figured it must have been when I felt that something in my life was out of my control. If that's true, it's surprising I don't have that dream more often. :)

I need a dream doctor. Seriously, my dreams are broken. I don't often remember them and when I do I am always a character other than myself. There are times I even dream I am my husband. Figure that one out.

SARIE: That's funny that you have the weather guy in your dreams.

Never fear. I doubt your dreams could be stranger than many of mine. The only reason I mentioned those I had the night before last was because I didn't have any other blog post idea. I've had many that are much, much weirder than those.

KATHANINK: Aw...you really do miss Lewis, that's a certainty.

I'd love to know if there's meaning behind my dreams. I suspect my dreams are just another result of my twisted mind.

LENORE: Your dream about your friend at the time she was having troubles is an amazing coincidence.

Dreams are fascinating for sure!

GULLY: Hmmm...maybe that'd be good!... although the idea of dining on baby anything isn't so very appetizing.

JANA: Yup, my mind is quite a bizarre organ whether I'm awake or asleep. I've had dreams similar to yours which I also think had to do with feeling out of control. In those recurring dreams, I'm back in high school. I can't manage to pick up my school books and the bus is waiting to pick me up. The books keep sliding from my arms and the bus finally leaves without me.

Thanks for sharing your dreams.

DARKSCULPTURES: I don't recall having dreams like yours. Unique indeed, my friend. Why not consider yourself blessed to be talented enough to dream from someone else's perspective!

Wow those dreams are some doozies! I don't have many nightmares anymore but usually, when I do, they are about snakes. There is one where I have to cross my grandma and grandpa's yard. I'm a kid again. And there are only so many places to step where there ISN'T a snake (or ten). Of course the spots are so far apart I have to leap from one to the other, barely keeping my balance because I either overshoot in my desperation to reach the spot or from exhaustion I nearly miss.

Not a fun dream but I've had that one for as long as I can remember.

LENORE: I'm always glad to have you drop in, in fact, the more often the better.

As my dad used to say regarding pay raises, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."

ROB: Yikes! I'm glad I don't dream of snakes very often. I bet a dream analyst would love to go to work on your snake dreams.

My far-fetched and non-professional analysis of your recurring snake dream: You're afraid to take risks and will do anything to avoid them. You find comfort in non-threatening situations and will go to great lengths to cling to your comfort zones.

What gives me the gumption to offer such a explanation for your dreams is because you've proven that you're not afraid. I know you quit your job and opened a business with a friend recently. That's proof that you've got guts or that you worked through any fears to get to where you wanted to be.

You should be extremely proud of yourself and I'm hoping you're finding success in your new venture.

The dream that leave a bad feel in the morning has me running away and hiding from someone. I'm running and running and only just a few moments ahead of whomever is behind me. May be a similiar theme to Jana's in that I'm not in control. Have had fewer of them since I retired, so may have been work related.
Or it could be that in my previous life I was a long distance runner :)
