Shaddy's Hydration Recipe

I found this bright and cheerful water bottle at a TJMaxx store. I faithfully clip it onto my workout bag whenever I go to NorthPointe.

After a workout, I fill the bottle with cold water and then add a packet of this energy booster. Besides vitamin C, it contains 7 mineral ascorbates, 32 mineral complexes and B vitamins. The calories per packet is only 25. (I buy the Walgreen's brand which is less pricey than the similar Emergen-C product).
*
The packets are sold in a box of 36. I can't remember the cost, but it's quite reasonable.
*
Honestly, what motivates me to mix the cranberry or orange flavored powder in my water is that it's much easier to drink than plain old water. Even when I've sweat a lot, I don't get very thirsty so I have force myself to rehydrate. Obviously, if the water tastes good, I'll drink more.
*
After sweating and grunting and groaning, you and I know drinking water is a must. My equation for successful hydration assures I'm replenished and refreshed once I've drained every drop. You may want to try it too.

What is it with plain water? I have a hard time drinking water, even though I know all of the benefits of staying well hydrated. My mother-in-law even keeps packets of flavoring in her cabinet in hopes of coxing me to drink some when I visit. My husband drinks more water in a day than I drink in a week. I guess I'm just stubborn. Maybe I’d drink more if it tasted a bit like wine or cranberry, but I'll never be a fan of plain water. Give me a bottle of juice and I’m happy, whether it is fermented or not.

DARKSCULPTURES: I can drink a few swallows of plain ice water and enjoy it but otherwise, I struggle with plain water as I mentioned in my post. Even the filtered water we have here in our house nearly gags me at times.

Club soda and fruit juice is my favorite drink.

I'll have to check these out. I don't have a problem with plain water after a workout. I'm so thirsty it actually tastes great to me. But, I can certainly use the aid of extra flavoring when trying to get water in me during the rest of the day.

By the way, I tried the Edy's fruit bars today...on the porch with naked feet. :) Very good advice indeed!

The cold water that comes out of my well tastes great, so I have no problem drinking it, even if it's room temperature.

JANA: You may like your everyday water with these nutritious flavorings...only 25 calories isn't a bad deal.

I'm glad you like the fruit bars.

GULLY: I bet your water is good.

I'll have to try your recipe. Sounds like a good idea. I use Emergen-C but now I'll go check out Walgreens brand. Thanks for the tip.

DAYNER: Emergen-C may be better but I'm okay with Walgreen's brand for now.
