Flocking Together?

While I was using my laptop in my "office" yesterday, I noticed this fine feathered friend settled in on the bird feeder perch immediately outside my bay window. I scooped up my camera and zoomed in on the fellow. I snapped a photo but I wasn't satisfied. I wanted a really close-up shot. I moved slowly toward the window, taking pictures as I closed the distance between us.

He didn't seem frightened so I kept gradually creeping nearer and nearer the glass that separated us. I was surprised that he didn't budge. An obstacle on the floor stopped me and as I stepped around it, he startled and flew across the yard, out of my sight.

I didn't wait long for the next visitor to the bird feeder. This one was small and shy. He peeked at me from the far side of the feeder as if he wanted to play hide-and-seek with me.

I may be a strange bird with hair instead of feathers but I enjoyed hanging around with these flight-prone fellows in the early afternoon. Although I'm not of their feather, I'll go so far as to say that we "flocked together" in spite of our differences.

Nice shots, Shaddy! Some kind of sparrow, I reckon? Gosh, you even caught the pupil in his eye in the next to last pix.

Yes, terrific photos, Shaddy!!

BTW, I am very much enjoying my Edy's fruit bars!! :-)

LENORE: I'd like to be able to spend lots of time watching nature but I'm too antsy and preoccupied to do so for very long.

GULLY: I'm happy being able to identify this living thing as a bird. I can't identify a bird by name unless it's a male cardinal, bluejay, robin or other quite obvious species.

Hey, call me a bird brain!

Great pictures Shaddy! The little devils fly too fast for me to get that close. Well, then there are the two kitties who watch them intently also.

KATHANINK: I'm so glad you like them. I'm addicted. Yesterday, I think I finally stopped eating them after my sixth one!!!

PARROT: Kitties definitely have an impact on how close the birdies will land.

I haven't been to visit your blog lately. Schools back in for the kids and I'm keeping very busy, but I haven't disappeared completely.
I love the last picture where he is peeking around at you. What fun. Thanks for sharing.

DAYNER: It's good to read your words. I was lucky to capture the little fellow at that particular moment.

Oh Shaddy. Shaddy, Shaddy, Shaddy. Sometimes I wonder if you are reading my mind. Paper Cut Screams is becoming my place to go when I need a sigh of relief.

This is so wonderful. Mr. Birdie is beautiful, I love him. If you'd make me a copy of that second picture I'll pay you big bucks. Or email me the picture and I'll print it here if you want to.

That last line you wrote makes me smile....I love.

Thank you for posting these words, these pictures...
Love,
Sarie

Shaddy - These pictures are great! I can't believe how close you were able to get before he flew away.

JANA: Maybe he'd eaten so much he was sluggish and totally content on his perch!

Very cool pics! I love watching the birds.

And I love the way the sparrow (I think it's a sparrow) is LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU in the next to the last picture.

NATASHA: He had his eye on me, that's for sure.
