Can You Come Out and Play?

Saturday and Sunday, Lon and I spent many hours outdoors planting flowers in our yard.

As we sat drinking coffee on the front porch early Sunday morning, I decided our yard light needed some company.  After a trip to Menard's, we came up with this grouping.  I like it!!

Shucks!!  I just realized that Lon and I won't be able to give each other rides around the yard in this wheelbarrow anymore.  Bummer!
I planted impatiens around this tree in the back yard and around another tree in the front yard.  After a few weeks, these plants with their red blossoms will be pushing and shoving each other and overflowing the sides of the planter.  I can't wait!

Uh, oh!!  These fellows and all their buddies are going to get mighty thirsty during the next several months.  Something tells me I'll be toting a hose and a watering can to all four corners of the yard on a regular basis.  That's a must if I want to keep all of our flowers alive and thriving.

I put a fresh coat of red paint on this cardinal yesterday.  The harsh winter weather and the sun had faded him to a pale purple color, totally uncharacteristic of a vibrant cardinal.
The potted plants below add life and vibrant color to the table on our screen porch.
Do YOU take time to play in YOUR yard?  If not, I suggest you try it.  It's great for the soul.

Too cold in my yard to plant flowers yet. Instead, I'm playing in the highway ditches. When I'm in need of flower-power, I'll come here and play with your flowers.

I sure hope this posts.... You have no idea how many times I've tried.

GULLY: I appreciate your persistence in commenting here! I'm sorry it's been so uncooperative for you. I don't know why or I'd fix it.

ROB: Thank you, Rob. We love our home and our location. We've given up camping and will enjoy our yard instead during the spring, summer and fall seasons. It is fun!!! Thanks for popping in.

I love your beautiful colorful planters! It gives me encouragement that spring is really here. I'm seeing some things come to life in my yard now and I've been outside pulling weeds, pruning grapes and shrubs, and pulling weeds. (Oh, did I say I had been pulling weeds??)
Hope you will continue to post pictures so we can watch the progress.

NATASHA: Thank you. I've been enjoying my yard for the first time in years.

LINDA: I spent four hours yesterday putting Miracle Gro on all of our plants. I love that stuff.

Pulling weeds, huh? That's a necessary evil--good for our waistlines!!

STEPHANIE: This is the first year in quite some time that I've taken an interest in our yard. I'm getting some pretty good exercise with all the bending and accomplishing something at the same time!! That's better than just plain working out on exercise machines. (I can't believe I just wrote that!!)

SARIE: I wonder if I'll still enjoy it when it's super hot, the mosquitoes are biting and all my plants are crying out for water!!??
