All About Beer: Everything You Don't NEED to Know

I have acquired an inexplicable interest in beer.  On Monday, I bought an assortment of beers and carried them out of the store in a six pack holder that described the different brews.  I have shared the information below.

ALES:  THESE BEERS USUALLY YIELD A FRUITIER, MORE ROBUST TASTE CREATED BY COMBINING TOP-FERMENTING YEAST AND WARMER BREWING TEMPERATURES.

Choose your ALE:

Belgian Style Wheat Ale has a subtle citrus aroma & slightly tart flavor--very refreshing.

Amber Ale has citrusy aromas, sweet caramel notes, & a smooth finish.

Brown Ale is malty, with hints of caramel & chocolate.

India Pale Ale (IPA) has a pronounced hoppy aroma & flavor with substantial maltiness.

LAGERS:  TYPICALLY ON THE DRIER, CRISPER END OF THE TASTE SPECTRUM, LAGERS ARE CREATED BY USING BOTTOM-FERMENTING YEAST AT COOLER TEMPERATURES.

Choose your LAGER:

American Lager has balanced hops & a crisp, dry finish.

Marzen has a complex malt character, mildly hopped.

Pilsner has pronounced hops bitterness & aroma with a refreshing finish.

Bock has a warm, toasty taste with rich, sweet caramels.

(After reading all of this, my head is spinning.  Too much information or too much beer?)

Looks lovely again this year! I'm glad you have that to look forward to to get out of the harsh winter you have endured!
We've got lots of breweries here in Portland that are just waiting for your taste test! Come on out!

LINDA: I haven't met a beer yet that I didn't like. I might not love every one but I can drink them all. Although, I must admit I accidentally ordered a beer that was gluten free. That was tough to swallow!! Coming your way to taste test at the beer breweries sounds like a fun time. Who knows...maybe some day. :) Thanks for the great idea, Linda!!
