Promoting THE FOUNTAINHEAD

I can't believe I read the whole thing! It took me three weeks, but I reached page 727 last night.

Ayn Rand's purpose in writing the novel, The Fountainhead, was to affirm that encouraging freedom of the individual promotes creativity and progress whereas requiring the individual to give up his soul for the so called "good of others" results in stagnation and unhappiness.

This book made me think. At this time in history, the concept which is developed in the pages of The Fountainhead needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Sharing the wealth, taking from the rich to give to the poor, sacrificing for the good of all, these socialist schemes kill the drive in the souls of those who are willing to work hard to accomplish their heartfelt dreams and goals. Socialist ideals enable the lazy and unproductive to continue being lazy and unproductive.

My feelings exactly, Shaddy. Never could see the sense in socialism or communism or any other ism that quashed self-responsibility and personal initiative. Good post.
